EARTH DAY PLANTING TREES - POLAND
The second ecological action carried out as part of the local activities in Poland was planting trees in the Brwilno Reserve on 15th April 2024. Mrs. Katarzyna Kania and Agnieszka Stańczyk-Jabłońska together with 20 project participants went to the Forest District in Brwilno near Plock.
The trip was organized as a celebration of International Earth Day (22nd April). This day is an excellent opportunity to reflect on our impact on the environment and take action to protect the environment.
The activities of our group consisted of planting trees (beeches), which gave us the opportunity to contribute at least a little to environmental protection. We received buckets with seedlings of beech trees, gloves and spades, we headed towards the forest where there was a short instruction from foresters on how to put a tree into a hole and to what depth, as well as a demonstration of digging a hole of the appropriate size. For 2 hours we planted trees under the supervision of the foresters. The most important step was to firmly press down the soil around each seedling to limit the air access.
We are satisfied with our work. The foresters said that there was a good chance that our planted beech trees would take root because the soil moisture was good.
After returning, the project participants started designing a poster about Earth Day. The poster will be posted around the school and made available on media.
