As part of the Erasmus+ project "Act eco-locally to change into eco-globally", students from II. gymnasium, Zagreb have been creatively transforming old, discarded chairs into colorful classroom decorations throughout the 2024/2025 school year.
Instead of throwing the chairs away, students restored and painted them with subject-related motifs—from science symbols to literary quotes—giving them a new purpose while also enriching the visual identity of the school. Guided by their teachers, students worked on the chairs during art classes and creative workshops, learning not only artistic techniques but also valuable lessons about sustainability and reuse.
This activity reflects the project's goal of encouraging environmentally conscious thinking through hands-on action. The initiative will continue in the coming years, inviting more students to take part and contribute to a more sustainable and inspiring school environment.
