The Erasmus project "Act Eco-Locally to Change into Eco-Globally" recently organized its third mobility program in Romania, aiming to encourage youth to play a proactive role in addressing climate change and environmental protection through community-based actions.
During their stay in Romania, students engaged in a series of hands-on activities and workshops aimed at enhancing their awareness of recycling and eco-friendly practices. The program included sessions on sustainable resource management and composting, helping participants understand how local efforts contribute to global environmental goals. Students had the chance to share ideas with peers from across Europe, gaining fresh perspectives on tackling environmental issues.
Beyond the educational activities, participants explored Romania’s cultural and historical heritage by visiting landmarks like Bran Castle, the Black Church in Brașov, and the Royal Court in Târgoviște, adding depth and variety to their experience.
This program not only equipped students with practical ecological skills but also highlighted the importance of local actions in achieving global sustainability. Through workshops such as "My Message to the Earth," students were encouraged to consider their personal impact on the environment. Additionally, visits to a cardboard recycling plant and participation in eco-seminars on practices like composting restaurant food waste reinforced the value of concrete steps toward a sustainable future.
"Act Eco-Locally to Change into Eco-Globally" emphasizes that even small, local actions can make a difference on a global scale. The students returned to Croatia inspired and ready to apply what they had learned to benefit their communities, reinforcing the idea that meaningful change can be achieved through collective action. This enriching experience deepened their ecological understanding and fostered new international friendships, underscoring the power of unity in facing global challenges.
